Ojibway Peak is a 7,303-foot summit in northwestern Montana’s Cabinet Mountains Wilderness, on the border of Lincoln and Sanders counties about 22 miles south of Libby. Part of the Rocky Mountains west of the Continental Divide, it is managed within the Kaniksu and Kootenai national forests. The mountain is especially striking for its steep local relief, rising sharply above Rock Creek and Rock Lake and giving it an abrupt presence in the surrounding landscape. Its eastern and western slopes drain into different river systems, and its officially adopted 1923 name is identified as a Native American word. The peak remains valued for its rugged wilderness setting.
