Nature
Metamora-Hadley Recreation Area is a state-managed public recreation area in Hadley Township, southeastern Michigan, centered on Lake Minnewanna, an eighty-acre man-made lake created by damming the local creek. Covering 723 acres, it serves mainly campers and day visitors with 214 campsites in north and south campgrounds, a cabin, a six-mile nature trail, picnic grounds, a beach, boat rentals, and a camp store. The landscape has changed over time, with the original beach later becoming the north campground and the present beach once forested. Its importance lies in providing accessible, family-oriented outdoor recreation for the Lapeer and Detroit regions.
