East Kennebago Mountain
Nature
East Kennebago Mountain is a trailless monadnock in Franklin County, Maine, rising distinctly above the surrounding landscape near Tim Mountain, Black Spur, and Blackcat Mountain. Its slopes divide runoff across western Maine: the southeast and northeast sides feed the South Branch of the Dead River, while the southwest and northwest sides drain toward Kennebago Lake through smaller streams such as Big Sag Brook. Beyond its physical setting, the mountain is notable for remaining undeveloped and pathless, which distinguishes it from many regional peaks. Its inclusion in the New England Hundred Highest has also made it a recognized destination for experienced peak-baggers in northern New England.
