From 1898 to 1902, men from Boxford served in the war with Spain, and the citizens of Boxford later honored their patriotism by erecting a memorial in 1924 naming Charles F. Austin, Roy M. Day, Alfred K. Nason, Harry Van Idstein, and George P. Webster.
