Nubble Peak
Nature
Nubble Peak, also known as The Peak Above The Nubble, is a trailless mountain in Grafton County, New Hampshire, within the Twin Range of the White Mountains, just north of North Twin Mountain. Despite lacking an official trail, it is recognized as one of New England’s hundred highest summits. A rocky outcrop on its northwestern ridge is popularly called The Nubble, though maps identify it as Haystack Mountain. The mountain lies in the Ammonoosuc River watershed, with its slopes draining through the Little River, Haystack Brook, and the North Branch of the Gale River before those waters join the Ammonoosuc and eventually the upper Connecticut River en route to Long Island Sound.
