Fifes Peaks is a tightly grouped cluster of summits and rock spires in Washington’s Cascade Range within the Norse Peak Wilderness. It is not a single mountain but the eroded remnant of an ancient volcanic caldera that exploded about 25 million years ago, part of regional volcanic activity spanning roughly 20 to 30 million years ago. Its rugged form includes West, Central, and East peaks and several named pinnacles, with drainage flowing toward the American and Naches rivers. Lying east of the Cascade crest, it sits in a rain shadow with generally drier conditions. The peaks were named for placer miner Thomas X. Fife, linking the landscape to eastern Cascades mining and settlement history.
