Portland Mills Covered Bridge, built in 1856 by Henry Wolf, is a single-span Burr Arch Truss bridge in Parke County, Indiana, and one of the county’s oldest covered bridges. Its history is closely connected to the settlement of Portland Mills, founded in 1821 by Samuel Steele, who established farms and a mill on Big Raccoon Creek. The bridge was later relocated after its original setting was flooded in 1961 to create Mansfield Lake, and it took the place of a covered bridge destroyed by arson. After decades of deterioration, closure, and near collapse, restoration returned it to service in 1996.
