Redcloud Peak is a prominent summit in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, about seven miles southwest of Lake City. Rising to more than fourteen thousand feet, it is one of Colorado’s fourteeners and part of the rugged high country above Lake City. The mountain was historically known as Red Mountain until the name Redcloud Peak came into use in 1906. Its elevation, location, and place among the notable peaks of the San Juans have made it an enduring landmark in this part of the state.
