Redfield Canyon Wilderness
Nature
Redfield Canyon Wilderness is a protected area in southeastern Arizona at the southern end of the Galiuro Mountains in Cochise County. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management and established in 1990 under the Arizona Desert Wilderness Act, it centers on Redfield Canyon, a narrow chasm fed by many side canyons. Its elevation ranges from about 3,400 to 6,200 feet, creating a transition from desert lowlands to mountain slopes. Perennial streams set it apart within an arid region, and its rugged terrain supports diverse wildlife including mule deer, pronghorn, desert bighorn sheep, coyotes, mountain lions, and American black bears.
