Saint Mary’s Glacier, also written St. Marys, is a semi-permanent snowfield in Colorado’s Arapaho National Forest near James Peak and within easy reach of Denver. Though not a true glacier, it is a popular short mountain destination known for accessible alpine scenery. From Alice, visitors follow a 1.6-mile out-and-back trail that rises through pine and aspen forest to St. Mary’s Lake and then climbs more steeply to the base of the snowfield. The route is valued for its quick transition from woods to open mountain views, and the area remains especially popular for hiking, fishing, and broad Front Range panoramas.
