Flagstone Peak is a 13,456-foot mountain in Wyoming’s Wind River Range and the state’s 12th highest summit. Its summit stands on the Continental Divide, and the mountain lies within both Shoshone and Bridger-Teton national forests. A secondary summit, Flagstone Peak Southeast Peak, reaches 13,160 feet about a quarter mile away. The surrounding high Wind River country is marked by rugged alpine terrain and fast-changing mountain conditions. Travel here can bring serious hazards, including bears, insects, wildfire, snow, and cold nights. Fatal falls and rockfall in the broader range also highlight the exposed danger of steep class 4 and 5 terrain among these high peaks.
