Ashokan High Point is a 3,081-foot summit in New York's Catskill Mountains and the highest part of a massif that includes Mombaccus Mountain, Little Rocky, and South Mountain. In the town of Olive, it is reached by the Kanape Brook Trail from Ulster County Road 42 to the saddle between High Point and Mombaccus. That trail began as a wagon track linking Watson Hollow and Samsonville during the Catskills tannery era and took its name from 19th-century farmer John Canape. The mountain has also been called High Point, Shokan Point, and Samson, a name that still appeared on a 1942 federal benchmark. A lower knob below the main peak is known for wide views.
