Ruby Crest National Recreation Trail is a high-country route through the central Ruby Mountains of northeastern Nevada, stretching about 38 miles across the range’s upper elevations. Beginning north of Harrison Pass and ending at Road’s End Trailhead in Lamoille Canyon, it follows the spine of the Rubies through steep passes, alpine lakes, dry crest sections, forested country, and dramatic basins. The trail repeatedly climbs above 10,000 feet, passing landmarks such as Overland Lake, King Peak, Wine’s Peak, Liberty Lake, and Liberty Pass. Valued for its sweeping mountain scenery and changing landscapes, it remains a notable Nevada backcountry route for hiking and pack-animal travel.
