Lake Peak is a 10,922-foot mountain in northeastern Nevada’s Ruby Mountains, rising within the Ruby Mountains Wilderness above Ruby Valley. Near Castle, Favre, and Liberty lakes and close to Wines Peak, it is especially striking on its east side, where it climbs about 4,700 feet in four miles from the valley floor. Its runoff flows in two directions, with western waters reaching the South Fork Humboldt River through Kleckner and North Furlong Creeks and eastern drainage going toward the Franklin River. The peak lies in the high, cold Great Basin Desert, with alpine conditions at the summit, and can be approached from Lamoille Canyon by the Ruby Crest National Recreation Trail.
