Continental Glacier lies in Wyoming’s northern Wind River Range, spanning Bridger-Teton and Shoshone National Forests and straddling the Continental Divide within both the Bridger and Fitzpatrick Wildernesses. It occupies part of the range that holds the largest concentration of glaciers in the American Rocky Mountains. Stretching along a high plateau north of Downs Mountain, the glacier forms a nearly unbroken icefield about 3 miles long. Its ice extends from roughly 13,100 feet down to 11,200 feet in elevation, with East Torrey Glacier immediately to the east.
