Downs Mountain
Nature
Downs Mountain is a 13,355-foot summit in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, with its crest on the Continental Divide. Lying within both Shoshone and Bridger-Teton National Forests, it is the state’s 15th highest mountain. The peak stands in a notably glaciated setting, with East Torrey Glacier on its northern slopes, Continental Glacier to the west and north, and Downs Glacier about 1 mile to the south. These surrounding ice fields shape the mountain’s stark alpine environment and mark it as part of some of the range’s more rugged high terrain.
