Downs Glacier
Nature
Downs Glacier is a high-elevation glacier in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, within Shoshone National Forest and the Fitzpatrick Wilderness. East of the Continental Divide and about 1 mile south of Downs Mountain, it extends from roughly 12,600 feet down to about 11,200 feet. It is part of a broader group of glaciers in this section of the Wind River Range, an area that contains the largest concentration of glaciers in the American Rocky Mountains.
