Ptarmigan Peak Wilderness is a federally designated wilderness area in Colorado’s Williams Fork Mountains, north of Dillon. Spanning 12,760 acres within the White River and Routt National Forests, it was established in 1993. The designation preserves a section of central Colorado mountain backcountry under the federal government’s highest level of wilderness protection, recognizing its significance as protected natural terrain within the region.
