Bollinger Peak is a 12,232-foot summit on Wyoming’s Continental Divide in the Cirque of the Towers, where it straddles the Popo Agie and Bridger wilderness areas within the Wind River Range. Ranked 148th in the state, it rises abruptly above nearby terrain, especially above Shadow Lake, and stands among a famed cluster of granite climbing peaks near Wolfs Head, Sharks Nose, and Pingora Peak. Its unofficial name honors Karl Bollinger, who died in 1953 after climbing the mountain and then falling on nearby War Bonnet Peak. First ascents and later climbing routes helped establish its place in a rugged alpine landscape known for technical terrain, severe weather, and accidents.
